I restored a 24 year-old ATV and the rims were rusty and in bad shape, and I needed to respray them. I asked the local auto service center for a cost on removing and reinstalling the tires ($80). I went with the tire masks and just deflated the tires. The elastic band had enough tension that I could press down on the tire and it would slip between the rim and tire. Worked perfectly. I bought four masks and did reuse them for the back side of the rims. The paint flaked off the mask, but all I needed to do was blow compressed air on the rims before spraying. Excellent solution.
