Description
This Brake Caliper Paint Kit includes everything you need to paint your brake calipers Texas Metal Blue. From the primer, basecoat, and topcoats to the optional prep and masking materials – each item has been specially put together for you in one all-inclusive bundle. You simply choose the desired color, project type, finish (Matte, Satin or Gloss), and optional add-ons. Then we handle the rest. Doesn’t get easier than this!
About this color: is an epic Alpha Custom Color with an amazingly deep finish without any need for candy. Great coverage with a lot of pearl pop!
Details About This Kit: This is for good condition brake calipers only. You will need high build primer in addition to this kit if you are refinishing damaged, pitted, or corroded calipers.
This is only to be used over properly prepped painted, powder coated, or bare metal calipers. NOT CHROME.
*Spraying over chrome can cause poor adhesion. Some customers have good luck with sand blasting the chrome then using adhesion promoter, but do this at your our risk*
Steps to using the kit:
-
Wash your calipers thoroughly to remove brake dust and road grime. We recommend using Brake Dust Pro + a scrubber mitt.
-
Dry your calipers completely and wipe down with the included wax & grease remover.
-
Scuff the entire surface you plan to paint with the included scuff pad and paste until the finish is flat and fully abraded.
-
Rinse with warm water and dry the calipers using a clean rag and compressed air.
-
Mask off any areas around the calipers you do not want painted, including rotors, brake lines, and hardware. Avoid letting masking tape bridge onto the caliper surfaces.
-
Wipe down the calipers again with a clean microfiber and the included wax & grease remover.
-
Shake the primer cans according to the label. Spray 1 light coat, wait 5 minutes, then spray 1 medium wet coat on each caliper.
-
Wait 1 hour after primer is fully dry to the touch.
-
Shake basecoat cans according to the label. Then spray 2–4 basecoats on the calipers (waiting 10 minutes or until flashed between coats) until full color and effect is achieved.
-
Wait 30 minutes after basecoat is fully dry to the touch.
-
Spray 2–4 wet coats of clearcoat, waiting 10 minutes or until fingerprinting stage (lightly tacky) between coats.
-
Unmask after a minimum of 30 minutes.
-
Let dry 8 hours before handling.
