Shanks Blue Midcoat

is pearl midcoat that reflects a sparkly and vibrant silver & blue pearl hue in the sun and when used at a low load,  is hardly noticeable in the shade.

This color is great to accent the base coat whether it be a solid base or a pearl base, but can also create many amazing finishes when mixing or layering with other pearls.

Pictured on the Lexus by Evan Shanks is over Iris Smoke Basecoat

All of our Alpha Custom Color Basecoats are bound in a specifically formulated binder that has pigment control (to avoid striping or mottling), great UV Resistance, crystal clear, and great pearl suspension.
This color is also available in vehicle paint kitspainted samples, and more!

EFFECT OPTIONS:

2) Medium: Best over base colors that you want more pop of color and sparkle. Over black this is what would be used to get more of a full coverage look. Over other colors this is ideal for effect and sparkle.

Type of paint:    1 color pearl paint basecoat (Translucent)

 Micron Size: 20-200μm
 Mixing Ratio: Mix Ratio: 1:1:5% (Basecoat:AR-30xx: HH57)

 Coverage : Best as effect
Basecoat Recommendation : Gray Sealer for full coverage
or ANY BASECOLOR FOR A " GHOST" EFFECT

We highly recommend using the AR-30xx reducer & HH57 hardener. Other high end reducer & hardeners may work as well, though have not been tested.
Hardener is optional in our basecoat but highly recommended as it makes the basecoat even more durable, lay even flatter off the gun, and overall a better finish. For optimum durability and adhesion, our basecoats should be mixed 1:1 with AR-30xx Reducer and 5% HH57 Basecoat hardener. Mixing Example: 10oz basecoat , 10oz AR-30xx, 1oz hh57. Keep in mind, if you add hardener to the basecoat, it will catalyze and not be able to be put back in the can and stored.
Colors may vary depending on computer and mobile screen color settings. In order to ensure that the color meets your expectations, we highly recommend purchasing a sample size first.

* These are Basecoat Midcoats ( 1k Midcoats ) Where the basecoat REALLY matters. We highly recommend sticking the basecoats we suggest above for best results. *

This is an Acrylic Urethane Basecoat.
Yes, this is a basecoat paint which needs a high quality clearcoat sprayed over top of it for durability and shine. We recommend HC-4100 or any of the other Tamco Clearcoats on our website.
Yes - our paints work great on calipers, engine blocks, and valve covers!
You have an 8hr recoat window. If its over 8hrs - scuff with a gray scuff pad , spray another coat of base, then continue as normal with the project.
We would recommend you either adding Diamond pearls into the base coat or ideally spray our Diamond pearl midcoats over top. Over top will give you the most effect while also not changing the color as much as mixing it. Also mixing it in you will need quite a bit of pearl to be able to see it.
Flows out of a .5 or larger. Any smaller it MIGHT have to be further reduced
