Diamond Blue Basecoat

is a diamond pearl that reflects a sparkly and vibrant Blue hue in the sun and when used at a low load, is hardly noticeable in the shade. This color is great to accent the base coat whether it be a solid base or a pearl base, but can also create many amazing finishes when mixing or layering with other pearls.

All of our Alpha Custom Color Basecoats are bound in a specifically formulated binder that has pigment control (to avoid striping or mottling), great UV Resistance, crystal clear, and great pearl suspension.

This color is also available in aerosol spray cans, dry pearl pigment, vehicle paint kits, painted samples, and more!

EFFECT OPTIONS:

1) Subtle: Best for slight effect that will provide a sparkle and slight pop of color to your base color or substrate. (provides a black / color flip effect with 1-2 coats over black basecoat)

2) Medium: Best over base colors that you want more pop of color and sparkle. Over black this is what would be used to get more of a full coverage look. Over other colors this is ideal for effect and sparkle.

3)Heavy: This gives the most pop of color and sparkle. Ideal over white or any other base color other than black. This should not be sprayed over black, as it will "White out" quickly.

What is this basecoat made out of?

This is an Acrylic Urethane Basecoat.

Does this paint need a clearcoat on top?

Yes, this is a basecoat paint which needs a high quality clearcoat sprayed over top of it for durability and shine. We recommend AC-4521 or any of the other Alpha Automotive Clearcoats on our website.

Can you paint your calipers with this paint?

Yes - our paints work great on calipers, engine blocks, and valve covers!

What is the recoat & topcoat window for Alpha Automotive Basecoats?

You have an 8hr recoat window. If its over 8hrs - scuff with a gray scuff pad , spray another coat of base, then continue as normal with the project.

How can I add a Pearl effect of another color while not changing the end result color much?

We would recommend you either adding Diamond pearls into the base coat or ideally spray our Diamond pearl midcoats over top. Over top will give you the most effect while also not changing the color as much as mixing it. Also mixing it in you will need quite a bit of pearl to be able to see it.

Is this ready to spray out of an airbrush or would it have to be thinned?

Flows out of a .5 or larger. Any smaller it MIGHT have to be further reduced
