PITCH BLACK TO MYSTIC BLUE | AUTOFLEX COATINGS | RANGE ROVER

Have you ever seen a ride that has a beautiful color combo on it and that colors were not topped off or mixed with one another? If not, let us show you the epic result on this Range Rover! Check out how Finest Dips sprayed our Pitch Black Drop-In Pigment and Mystic Blue Solid Pearl on this ride! In the front part of this ride is where our Pitch Black was sprayed and at the back part is where you’ll see that strong blue color which is our Mystic Blue! You can clearly see how these two tough colors suit each other well and added that this color combo was topped off with matte finish using AutoFlex Coatings, this Range Rover turns into a rare ride because of its now unique color that you do not normally see in cars while you’re on the road!

Like all of our liquid pigments that include "Alpha Tints" , such as Pearl Enhancers, RAL Drop-In Pigments, and Alpha Drop-In Pigments, Pitch Black Drop-In Pigment can be used in Alpha Pearl & Candy Carrier or other traditional automotive paint, epoxy resin, Plastisol, Autoflex Coatings, Performix Plastidip, Halo

Mystic Blue Solid Pearl is also available in Automotive Paint & Aerosol Spray Cans as well.

This project uses an Alpha Custom Color basecoat, bound in a special binder for pigment control, UV resistance, and excellent pearl suspension. The basecoat mixes 1:1 with an AR-30xx reducer for smooth application and consistent coverage. Our AP-7541 DTM Primer-Sealer provides outstanding adhesion, flexibility and fast drying, while the AC-4521 HS Glamour Clearcoat adds long-lasting gloss, UV protection and durability.

Project Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Complete your prep, body work, primer, and sanding following our video tutorials.
  2. Block-sand the exterior panels with 320 grit sandpaper and scuff door jambs, engine bay and tight areas with a red scuff pad.
  3. Blow off all dust outside and wipe down with wax & grease remover.
  4. If applicable, paint the door jambs and engine bay first, then wait 24 hours before moving on to the exterior.
  5. Re-mask and wipe down the project with anti-static wax & grease remover.
  6. Mix and spray one medium wet coat of AP-7541 DTM Primer-Sealer (4:1:1 ratio) using a 1.4 mm needle spray gun.
  7. After the sealer is 100% dry to the touch, wait at least an hour.
  8. Mix and spray your basecoat colour directly over the sealer (most colours require 2–4 coats for coverage/effect).
  9. Wait until the basecoat is dry to the touch before recoating.
  10. After the final basecoat is dry, wait 45 minutes.
  11. Mix and spray 2–3 coats of AC-4521 HS Glamour Clearcoat (2:1 ratio). Recoat when the previous coat is just tacky (fingerprints).
  12. Let cure for 12 hours in a warm, ventilated area.
  13. If wet sanding & buffing, leave masked for that process; otherwise unmask & assemble.
  14. Enjoy your newly painted project!
