Porsche 911 GTS finished in RAL 5021 Water Blue

Finished in RAL 5021 Water Blue

This Porsche 911 GTS came together in RAL 5021 Water Blue — a factory-accurate water-blue that reads deep teal in the sun. Rogue Enterprises built it on the same Alpha Automotive Paint system TSS ships to every customer: DTM primer-sealer for the gray sealer, RAL 5021 Water Blue basecoat, and HS Glamour clearcoat, all laid over the gray sealer so the color reads exactly the way it was built to.

Below is how the build came together — the prep, the products, and the steps you'd follow to chase the same finish on your own project.

Meet the Builder: Rogue Enterprises

Rogue Enterprises ran this Porsche 911 GTS from prep through final clear with the same RAL 5021 Water Blue vehicle paint kit we ship to every customer — no shop-only products. The system is the DTM primer-sealer, RAL 5021 Water Blue basecoat, and HS Glamour clearcoat, plus urethane reducer, HS activator, and the TSS cheat sheet to keep the ratios straight. The kit you'd buy is the kit on this build.

The Color: Why RAL 5021 Water Blue?

RAL 5021 Water Blue is an OEMatch automotive basecoat matched precisely to RAL 5021 Wasserblau — a rich water-blue with a teal lean. It's a 2-stage system, so it's beginner-friendly to spray and match, and it's engineered for factory-accurate color right out of the kit.

As a 2-stage OEMatch color it's built to go over a gray AP-7541 sealer — the gray ground coat gives it a uniform, neutral foundation so the water-blue reads at its true, factory hue across every panel.

Every Way to Get RAL 5021 Water Blue

Whether you're painting a full vehicle, a motorcycle, a guitar, or just touching up with a spray can — RAL 5021 Water Blue is available for every project size. Each kit includes matched products sized for the job.

💡 Pro Tip

RAL 5021 is a 2-stage color — build even coats over the gray sealer for a uniform, factory-accurate water-blue, then let the clear carry the depth.

What's Inside the Vehicle Paint Kit

These are all the products included in the RAL 5021 Water Blue Full Vehicle Paint Kit. Every product is already matched and compatible — no hunting across brands, no guessing on ratios.

DTM Primer-Sealer (AP-7541)AP-7541 DTM primer-sealer lays down the gray sealer — the gray AP-7541 sealer gives this 2-stage color a uniform, neutral foundation for a factory-accurate match.

RAL 5021 Water Blue BasecoatRAL 5021 Water Blue basecoat is the color coat — a factory-matched RAL 5021 water-blue that mixes with reducer and sprays over the gray sealer.

HS Glamour Clear (AC-4521)AC-4521 HS Glamour clearcoat lays the deep, glassy gloss over the color and locks in UV and chip protection.

Alpha Urethane Reducer (AR-3000 Series)Alpha urethane reducer thins the basecoat to a spray-ready ratio for even, controlled coats.

HS Activator (AH-7100 Series)AH-7100 HS activator catalyzes the HS Glamour clear so it cures hard, clear, and durable.

Optional Add-Ons

The vehicle paint kit has everything you need to go from prepped surface to finished paint. But depending on where your project is starting, these add-on bundles can save time and money on the prep and masking side:

The Complete DIY Process

Step 1: Prep & Bodywork

Every finish this clean starts with the surface underneath. Rogue Enterprises blocked the Porsche 911 GTS straight and knocked down the old finish with OptiGrit abrasives before a single coat went on. Skip this and RAL 5021 Water Blue will telegraph every flaw.

Step 2: Gray Sealer (Ground Coat)

A gray AP-7541 sealer from the DTM primer-sealer line is the recommended ground coat for this 2-stage color — the neutral gray gives the water-blue a uniform foundation to read factory-accurate. Lay it uniform and let it flash before basecoat.

Step 3: RAL 5021 Water Blue Basecoat

RAL 5021 Water Blue basecoat mixes with Alpha urethane reducer and builds in smooth, even coats until the water-blue comes up to an even, factory-accurate tone across every panel. Let each coat flash — patience here is what keeps the color reading deep instead of blotchy.

Step 4: HS Glamour Clearcoat

HS Glamour clearcoat, catalyzed with HS activator, is where the depth comes alive — it buries the color in gloss and gives you the wet, glassy finish you see on the finished build. This is also your UV and chip protection.

Step 5: Cut & Buff

Once the clear is fully cured, a light cut with fine OptiGrit and a buff brings RAL 5021 Water Blue to a mirror. Reference the TSS cheat sheet for the ratios and flash windows so nothing gets rushed.

Not if you're using the vehicle paint kit. The RAL 5021 Water Blue basecoat included in the kit is pre-reduced and ready to spray right out of the can — no mixing cups, no measuring, no guessing. Just shake, pour, and spray.
No spray booth required. Many TSS customers paint in home garages. The keys are dust control (wet the floor, hang plastic sheeting), proper ventilation (at minimum a quality respirator and air movement), and following the cheat sheet for temperature and flash times. Spray when conditions are 65–85°F for best results.
A laminated guide covering every stage: mix ratios, flash times, coat counts, spray gun settings, and troubleshooting tips. It's included in every complete vehicle paint kit. Want it before you buy? Download the free PDF or order a free physical copy (just pay shipping).

A gray sealer. RAL 5021 is a 2-stage OEMatch basecoat that's built to go over a gray AP-7541 sealer from the DTM primer-sealer line — the neutral gray is what lets it match the factory water-blue. The RAL 5021 vehicle paint kit includes everything for that system.

No — because it's a 2-stage color (basecoat + clear, no tri-stage midcoat), it's more beginner-friendly to spray and match than a pearl or candy. Build even coats of RAL 5021 basecoat over the gray sealer and top it with HS Glamour clear.

Yes — RAL 5021 is available in an aerosol spray can, color-matched to the same OEMatch basecoat used on the full build, for touch-ups and small panels.
